Oban Sea Kayak

You would have had excellent views of the snow covered peaks behind Oban if you sea kayak ed along the shore of the Isle of Kerrera today. A light wind out of the east meant it was a great day out on the west coast.

We spent some of the morning clearing bushes & many years of debris off the roof of soon to be Sea Kayak Oban. Another supplier was shown around and latched on to our enthusiasm for our Sea Kayak Shop in Scotland on the water. Lots of parking nearby and close to the Train and bus. You will be able to use a Trolley by Eckla or C-Tug to take your Sea Kayak from the Sea Kayak Storage we are offering and be on the water in a matter of minutes. If you have forgotten any items of equipment we should be able to supply them or point you towards another local shop that can.

We also expect to be able to cater for the Kayak Fishing Fraternity with a range of fishing kayaks, clothing and various equipment from Hummingbird, Cannon and Minn kota to help you make the catch you have been dreaming of. We can also offer Courses in Kayak Fishing to help you get the most out of your kayak safely.

What

The solar panels on our roof today heated 300litres of water from about 6 degrees to 32 degrees celsius. So there is definitely some heat in the sun on a clear day.

Two more Sea Kayaking equipment suppliers came on board this week and we take delivery of the Tiderace Demo Sea Kayaks (the Rolls Royce and Ferrari of Sea Kayaks all in one) in a few days time so we look forward to taking you out on the water in these.

We are just putting together our orders for other brands. It looks like the great value sea kayaks from Point 65 will be here before the shop opens. Their new factory is turning out superb quality sea kayaks at a great price. We are partciularly excited about the Double Shot which we tried recently in Stockholm. It means that the double sea kayak will not just sit around and watch while the others go rockhopping, but can really revel in such situations.

There are also new Sea kayaks for sale from Necky , the Eliza (a superb boat for the smaller sea kayaker). The Marlin from Prijon and the Essence from Perception. We also hope to be offering Fishing Kayaks from Ocean Kayaks and Point 65 and others.

Having been running a sea kayaking Coaching, Guiding and white water kayaking and sea kayaking holidays business in Scotland for the last 5 years we are really keen to provide sea kayaks for big and small people as well as those in between so we have the X lite and Sea Rover by Point 65 and the Xcite S and Xplore S by Tiderace Sea Kayaks as well as the Necky Eliza.

We hope to be working in the Sea Kayak Oban warehouse very soon, scrubbing, metal treatment, painting. The joiners have been booked . Windows ordered , more accounts aquired. Douglas Wilcox has generously given us use of his photos for ads and promoting Oban. Of course still finalising leases, banks, etc. Promoting what we have to offer on the internet in as many countries as possible.

Meanwhile National Kayak School’s sea kayaking and white water kayaking courses and holidays are booking like never before. Similarly the Adventurers Escape Hostel and self catering cottages in Sunny Weem, near Aberfeldy are going to be very busy this coming year.

We still have some great deals on 2nd hand sea kayaks. As it gets warmer they are going to become even hotter items. We are going to be running the Sea Kayaking sessions at the paddling festival in Nottingham so come and give it ago. Its virtually free , there is a £5 fee to get on the water. Ahh those English charge you for access, not like in Scotland where access is free.

You should definitely come and give this a go. Heh you may not be getting any younger or stronger and this is definitely the way to keep up. We will have most of their boats available to demo and when you decide what you like we will bring them in. We are starting with a barrow load of Whisky 16s, 505s , Sea Cruisers and Double shots because they are bound to sell. Feel free to book a boat.

We have decided to head south for the Weekend and as the National Kayak School we will be running Sea Kayaking sessions on the lake (pond if you live in Scotland) and helping people to decide how to choose their sea kayak. Sea Kayak Oban/ national kayak school stand will be a good place to come visit and talk about where we live and work. So Nottingham Paddlefest a date for the diary on or off the water.

These sea kayaks will compliment the Tiderace sea kayaks and the others that will arrive in Oban at the end of March. There are a variety of great fast sea touring sea kayaks and rough water touring kayaks including the great double. We will have lots of demo sea kayaks available from the Oban shop as well as to travel further afield on our trailer.

For those of you from the south of England double digit temps may be common but we are reveling in almost balmy, though very windy weather. The daffodils are just coming out here.

As well as demoing sea kayaks we have been checking out more accommodation options in Oban. The Corran House is excellent.Very friendly atmosphere with your own kitchen, really nice rooms, great sea views, a bar in the basement.

We have been very busy working inside the building with the joiners getting well on the way with our new creation. It is a suprisingly sunny spot which warms quickly. As always the timber merchants supply a lot of the wood soaking wet so we have had to delay the painting.

We have taken our delivery of Tiderace Sea Kayaks in our colours so there are some available off the shelf. Tiderace demo can be arranged anytime. The Point 65 container should arrive sometime over Easter.
