The kayaking

The Isle of Skye has over 350 miles of intricate coastline to discover, ranging from exposed cliffs to sheltered sea lochs. With an additional dozen outlying islands, many of which are only accessible with your own boat, there is no shortage of adventure to be enjoyed. The variety of venues accessible to us will provide excellent opportunities for skill development as we paddle, making use of conditions as they present themselves.

This trip is for paddlers at the high end of improver / low end of intermediate – you should be comfortable paddling in winds of Beaufort F3 and waves up to 0.5m and covering 15-20km in a day. The multitude of different aspects means we have plenty of choice to make the best of the weather, and with 2 guides we may have the option of splitting the group depending on aspirations.

Paddlers will be invited to participate in the day-to-day trip planning, which can act as a focus for conversations on how to plan trips in locations we might not be familiar with. Laura and George will bring in their experience and knowledge to ensure everyone has the best possible time on the water.

The hostel base means there is also no requirement for paddlers to be on the water every day, and the Isle of Skye provides ample options for those wanting to explore on foot or pursue other activities under their own steam.
